How to Choose a Replacement Bearing by Size and Application

Choosing a replacement bearing is not only about finding the same size. Bearings with similar dimensions may differ in load capacity, clearance, sealing or internal design.

Start with the Bearing Number

If the original bearing number is still visible, use it as the first reference. A complete bearing number may indicate the bearing type, size series, seal type, internal clearance and cage design.

Confirm the Main Dimensions

    • d – Bore diameter

    • D – Outside diameter

    • B – Width

    Identify the Bearing Type

      • Deep groove ball bearings – motors, pumps, fans and general machinery

      • Cylindrical roller bearings – gearboxes, machine tools and heavy equipment

      • Spherical roller bearings – mining, conveyors and heavy-duty machinery

      • Tapered roller bearings – wheel hubs, agricultural and construction equipment

      • Needle roller bearings – compact machinery with limited installation space

      Check Operating Conditions

        • Load and speed

        • Temperature

        • Lubrication

        • Sealing

        • Internal clearance

        • Working environment

Two bearings with the same dimensions may not always be interchangeable.
